doubting thomasHey friends,

As shared earlier, we are going to have a questioning night this Sunday @ choppers.

So if you have a question that has been on your mind for a while now, please leave it in the comment section below (anonymously or not), and I will be sure to address it on Sunday November 30th.

All questions concerning God, religion, church, theology, Jesus, life are welcome and I hope that as a community we can engage the answers (and possible further questions).

Prayer/ P51 gathering

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Hey everyone,

Just a quick message to let you know that we are getting together this Thursday November 20th @ 7pm at Christine and Jem’s place to take time to pray for the church and work through some ideas we have for spending 51% of our tithes from the last two months (AKA Project51).

As most of you know we are taking 51% of all of our tithes and giving them away to our community and getting involved with the places we give to as well. This gathering will help us continually take shape on this project.

So come on by with your ideas to 2602 Kitchener st., Vancouver on Thursday.

A few links from tonight

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Here is the link for the podcast I was telling you about today at Choppers. It’s a great/ clever talk about how God reached out to Gentiles in the OT by Rob Bell and connects to what we talked about today in Luke 4, which also connected to the video we watched. Yes, everything is connected, heh.

thanks for the great discussion today, i left inspired.

Oh and if the link doesn’t work (it takes a while for the whole talk to download), just go to the google group site, and download it on to your desktop from the files section. Let me know if you have any other trouble, because I can also email you the file.

Dave Eggers: 2008 TED Prize wish: Once Upon a School

Friday, November 7th, 2008

After my last post on motion sickness I have had a few friends ask me about these “TED Talks” and I should say they have been quite inspirational in my life. In fact I have a dream of being invited to sit in on these talks live one day, and maybe even give a talk on how a small community of people can transform a city. This one in particular has given me a huge vision for my life and work with toh in Vancouver. I think it’s about time I revisit it. Thanks Nick for bringing this one up again.

We are hopefully going to watch this together on Sunday night and dream about ideas for Vancouver. This too me is heaven on earth… hope.

Look who’s back in town

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Hey everyone, aside from enjoying a good meal, and some thoughts on Hope this Sunday, we have a great example of hope coming to visit us.

Bruce is up from OKcity to work with a group called servants, and will be gifting us with his presence Sunday night at Choppers.

As some of you remember, Bruce came up to help us out at toh for 6 months, but upon is re-entry into Canada last September after a wedding (and only 2 months here), he was sadly turned away from the border. Only a few of us had a last visit with him as we drove over to Washington to see him on his way.

We are excited to connect with Bruce again this Sunday.
