Hello TOHers,
This Saturday @ 8:00pm sharp we will be handing out hot beverages to passersby at the Yaletown Skytrain station. We will however be meeting at More Than a Roof Agency (address below). It is very important that everyone who can make show up because we NEED to have 15 people there. My guess is that we have around 8 people right now that will be coming, so that’s not nearly enough, so please invite friends, co-workers, etc. This is a Christian initiative, but don’t be afraid to invite all types. Here’s the nitty gritty on the where/when/what stuff:
Site: Yaletown Roundhouse
YELLOW ZONE
At the beginning of your shift, meet at More Than A Roof Agency – 1267 Granville Street / Drake Avenue – Office location is #208, Buzzer #66
Show up and Check in
The first 30mins-1 hour of the shift is designated orientation and set up time. This is already allotted in the shift.
When you arrive at the perking site where you are to volunteer, please locate the YELLOW MORE THAN GOLD FOLDER. In it, you will find a SIGN IN sheet. Please take a MORE THAN GOLD NAME TAG and record your contact information on the sign-up sheet. Please return this name tag at the end of your shift.
If you have not yet completed and returned a waiver form, please read the CODE OF CONDUCT and sign the WAIVER FORM. We need to have this prior to you volunteering. Please note the ZONE of your site and act accordingly.
A Salvation Army site manager will be at the station to orient you to the specific site.
Site Specific Information for Beverage Services
Type of Station: Staging tent only
You will be using a dolley to transport the coffee cambros. Distances range from 8-10 blocks. The perking station is More than a Roof Agency. The staging sit will be limited to a table with cambros on it. We won’t be using backpacks at this station as the line ups will be too tight.
Washrooms are available at this location.
Peak hours are estimated to be from 3pm-6pm and from 10pm-midnight.
Contact Person: Dallas
This facility does not have an on-site caretaker and also has the following considerations.
It is a subsidized housing complex and therefore extra attention is needed to provide security for the residents. The residential tenancy requirement is that there is no noise after 11pm. However, there are no residents on the first floor and Dallas has arranged for the rec room to be available for the late shift.
A fob and key for entrance will be provided by Dallas to the Salvation Army site manager. There will have to be a transfer to each shift site manager with special consideration for night shift to afternoon shift. Logistics need to be worked out. The Exit is an automatic locking door.
The kitchen is on the 2nd floor and is available for 2pm – 7pm shift only
8pm – midnight shift will use the recreation room on the first floor. This has a sink and there will be tables provided to brew the coffee. (Coffee percs will have to be brought down from the kitchen in between shifts)
1 – 40c. perc is onsite, the rest will have to be provided by MTG and could be stored with the supplies
Storage of all supplies will be in the rec room.
Facility is 8-10 blocks from the Yaletown Station.
I will be there a bit early, so if you have a hard time finding the place, shoot me an email and I’ll coach you through it.
